Yukon Tours > Spirit Lake Canoe or Horseback

Choose from either an hour scenic paddle on picturesque Spirit Lake or a trail ride throught the Watson River valley.

Enjoy an incredible drive through the White Pass Summit on the Klondike Highway. Climbing over 2,800 feet in elevation following the White Pass Trail of '98. The drive is fully narrated by our experienced guides. You'll view waterfalls, glaciers, and snow capped mountains that adorn this famous thoroughfare. Crossing the Summit, you'll follow a string of jewel-like lakes into Canada's Yukon Territory.

You are traveling through the Pacific coast mountainous region called the Canadian Cordillera which separates the Yukon from the Pacific Coastal region. The lakes we follow boasts the actual headwaters of the second longest river in Canada, the Yukon River.

After the scenic drive we arrive at the Wilderness Lodge where we meet the Dutch family that has made their home here in the Yukon and enjoy a hearty meal complete with your host's famous apple pie!

The Saddle
An intimate wilderness experience on horseback. Saddle up on one of our well trained horses at the corral and enjoy a guided trail ride through the Watson River Valley. See remnants of mining days gone by, the glacially fed Watson River and panoramic vistas. Your experienced horseback guides are certified by the Canadian Equestrian Federation. Viewing the country astride a horse gives you a magnificent perspective.

The Paddle
Then, it's a short stroll down to the lake where your two-person canoes await for a scenic guided paddle on picturesque Spirit Lake. From the lake you have an impressive first row seat to Caribou Mountain (4,800 feet) where wildlife sightings may include Dall Sheep, Bald Eagle and even Moose. Your guide will share the natural history of the region and show you the beaver lodge and a fresh water spring that feeds the lake.
