photoClose Encounters of the Wild Kind in the heart of the famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve near Haines, Alaska. An interactive wildlife viewing experience like no other in Alaska and the Yukon. Forty-five wild animals all indigenous to the region. A unique photo opportunity not to be missed.

This trip is an escorted adventure into the heart of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve for a wildlife experience unlike any other in Alaska. Your knowledgeable local guide will acquaint you with the unique native and natural history of the Haines area as you make your way tot he Korschel Films Wildlife Park.

Steve Kroschel has a lifetime of experience working with wild animals. He has trained and filmed animals for "Never Cry Wolf" and on 70 shows for the "Wild America" series on PBS, as well as several feature films of his own. His park hosts over 40 wild Alaskan ananimals including Wolves, Arctic Fox, Lynx, Porcupine, Reindeer, and Wolverine with new animals being added continuously. High levels of interaction are possible at the Wildlife Park, including hands on face-to-face encounters and intimate close-up photography. The Park is unique in all of Alaska and the Yukon and is considered by many to be the best wildlife viewing experience of their trip to Alaska.

The towering Cathedral Peaks and Chilkat Mountains, boundary peaks of Glacier Bay National Park, provide the backdrop as we ride our deluxe motorcoach and venture 27 miles upstream from saltwater. As we follow the scenic Chikat River into the Preserve, we will stop along the river's edge to view this amazing habitat set aside for the American Bald Eagle.

After visiting the Wildlife Park, we head back to Haines where you will visit the American Bald Eagle Foundation Interpretive Center which contains amazing world class exhibits of the local wildlife. Then we are off for a trip around the Parade Grounds of historic Fort William H. Seward, Alaska's first fort.
